a generation of Joshuas

prophetic word by Joni Ames
Charlton Heston, longtime Hollywood leading actor who portrayed Moses in “The Ten Commandments” movie, has died at age 84. As I heard of this news, I immediately heard, “Moses is dead,” and was referred to the following scriptures in Joshua 1:

(1) After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: (2) ”Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them–the children of Israel. (3) Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.”

I felt that the Lord may be speaking some things through this prophetic parallel. One is, Charlton Heston paved the way for astonishing ‘religious’ movies, but now that he has passed on. I believe there are some ‘Joshuas’ that God is raising up to go even further in that realm.

(5) No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. (6) Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. (7) Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (9) Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:5-9)

In this, there is a command to be strong, courageous, and constantly consume and be consumed with the Word in order to be successful in that call. If those things are done, God promises to be with you and make your way prosperous and successful.

“i want to stand in Your counsel
sit at Your table
speak to You face to face
as a friend
i want to stand in Your fire
wherever Your eyes fall
may You find me faithful
to Your heart

and let me be found
with a heart after You

may Your eyes find
this heart loyal to You . . .

and may You be all that’s on my mind
all of the time
and let my heart be torn in two
and until Your will is mine

dearly Beloved of my soul. . .”

“God uses broken things : Broken soil produces the crop, broken clouds produce the rain, broken grain makes the bread, and broken bread feeds the hungry… the broken alabaster box released its purfume… Any spiritual fruitfulness will require the breaking from the outer person so that the spirit can commune with the Spirit of God.” – Alice Smith

“Artists act as a bridge between cultural divides, often giving society a language of healing and reconciliation… Like Saint Francis, artists lead the way for reconciliation, humility and the recovery of hope, to invite the world to enter the “eye of the storm”. There, at the still point, artists can present a case for what can be, and prepare the world for what is to come.” -International Arts Movement
